From the introduction page written by Pauline Evans:

It's a big book filled with all sorts of characters that I think you'll like – Penrod and Pecos Bill, Pippi the Superchild, Mr. Thurber's grandfather and Uncle Remus, Tom Sawyer and Alice, Mr. Popper's penguin, a kindly old dragon, a rhinoceros with a crumb under his skin, and a detective pig. Who can explain creatures like that? Nobody should try to. The only thing to do is to enjoy them.

The book is from 1957. It has 287 pages. I would guess it's for children of all ages but would probably be best for the person10 years and older. That's a guess on my part.

As for condition, the book looks to have strong binding that is still very much held together with the exception of the front cover. On the inside, the front cover is starting to pull away. Other than that, the corners have slight bumps, as you'd expect from a book over 50 years old. I didn't see any writing inside and I didn't see any torn pages.
