Wells Fargo Bank Old Time Lamp, Cloth Shade, 1950s?

Please note that I have several other photos of the lamp. If interested, let me know and I can email them to you.

I recently purchased a large amount of Wells Fargo items from a lady who retired from the bank after 27 years of service. There are some very interesting pieces.

The lady said she purchased this lamp at an antiques store roughly 5 years ago. She purchased it with the desire to have it repaired to its original state, to be able to use it. She never had it repaired. I tried to use as many photos as possible to show the condition. The main attraction is the Stagecoach material. The stagecoach has the Wells Fargo logo. The scene on the material is of the stagecoach being attacked by Indians and the drivers of the stagecoach racing to get in with Conestoga wagons that have circled. I see one very small pin hole in the material. The hole is on the upper left side. I don’t see any tears, just that little hole and I had to look hard to see it. The material is dusty and I was told the lamp has been sitting in an open box in storage. I dusted it the best I could, but will need further cleaning. If I thought I could safely remove the material and have it cleaned, I would. But, I wouldn’t begin to know how to remove it.

The material is supported and attached around wire of some type. Feeling the wire, it is bigger than the wire you’d find in a wire coat hanger. On the back of the lamp there are two hooks (also wrapped with the material). These types of hooks were used in the old days to attach a lamp to the headboard of a bed. I can remember having a similar lamp in the early 1950s on the back of my bed. Across the back, or the flat part, it measures almost 10 inches across from side to side, 6 inches from top to bottom, and 6 inches at the widest point from front to back.

Regarding the cord and the bulb socket…

You can tell in several of my photos that it is the old type of cord. The cord is cracked in several areas so please don’t take this and plug it in until you can get that repaired, or unless you know what you are doing with electricity. For this reason, I have not tested this lamp. As to the bulb socket, or the piece that a light bulb would be screwed into, it is no longer attached inside the lamp. That too will need repair. The socket still has the old pull chain but I don’t know if the chain is original or not.

So there ya have it. It’s really a great old lamp, but needs work. Restore it or have it restored and you’ll be the envy of your Wells Fargo co-workers, or if you just like cowboys and Indians, this will be a great addition to your collection.

An explanation regarding COMBINED SHIPPING charges:

I do combine additional purchases to save my customers on shipping charges. When more than one item is purchased, I begin with the item with the highest quoted rate and add onto it. You will notice in my listings that it shows the same price for additional items as it does for the original item. That second price is not correct, but until I can figure out the program, I have to put that in there. Any items after the first one will be discounted. If you'd like a quote on additional items, email me which items and I'd be happy to give you an accurate quote.

Buyer to pay delivery charges from Northern California of $10.00. Although I have mentioned above that I combine shipping, any additional items purchased would have to be small as there is very little room left in the box this lamp is packed in. Insurance suggested. Seller will not be liable for uninsured items.

All items in my listings come from either garage or estate sales. I do not know if they came from homes where smoking or pets were present. All items are sold in the same condition as when I received them.
